Spring Feet!

Fridays are the start of my weekend. I spend the morning sleeping in until, like, 8am! Serious luxury friends. I drink too much coffee, stay in PJs a bit too long and most often than not I end up watching The West Wing on Netflix while tackling a pile (erm, mountain) of laundry. At last, over the past week, the weather has been behaving, and it actually feels like spring! So, last Friday I was inspired to freshen up my pedicure. Now every time I look at my toenails I am reminded, oh yea - it's May!!

^^Before: Rocking my wedding pedicure way longer than I thought was humanly possible^^

^^After: Embracing spring and sporting Essie's "First Timer"^^

BIRCHBOX

Back in January during my epic bridal shower (yes, I really have to use the word epic to describe it) I was amidst a mountain of large Bed, Bath & Beyond, Bloomingdales and Crate & Barrel packages when I spotted a small, inconspicuous present out of the corner of my eye. After almost an hour of handling presents boasting beautiful glassware, china, serving platters and kitchen appliances when I was finally handed this little present, it felt practically buoyant in my hands.

I was curious. What could this be? Maybe cocktail napkins? What had I registered for that was so light-weight?!

Ah-ha, but here's the catch, I hadn't registered for this particular package. It was a surprise from my dear friends, Linda and Dan. They had gifted me a year subscription to BIRCHBOX. What is BIRCHBOX, you may be wondering? I quickly found and began to explore their aesthetically pleasing website and learned that "Birchbox is the best way to discover new grooming, beauty and lifestyle products. Sample top products from high-end brands, get expert advice, buy new favorites and earn points with every purchase"

I was SO in. Each month I anxiously await my latest BIRCHBOX delivery. It fits perfectly into our teeny-tiny NYC mailbox and when I see it's pop of pink packaging peaking out at me from inside I often do an embarrassing little dance right their in our lobby. Especially now that the wedding is over, and our mailbox has been a bit lonely, my BIRCHBOX gift has been a monthly highlight that I anticipate and treasure.

^^I am a sucker for BIRCHBOX and their gorgeous packaging.^^
^^Have you BIRCHBOXed yet?^^

Hair cut?

When Jake and I first started dating I chopped off my hair and even rocked some blunt, thick bangs a la Anne Hathaway in Devil Wears Prada.  I even wrote a post about it on Apartment 10... Jake's reaction? He said he missed my little forehead. Ha.

For the past four-ish years I've been growing out my hair. It wasn't really a mission per se, I just always loved having long hair and my hair grows fast and well, great hair cuts in New York are ridiculously expensive!! Although I won't be getting bangs again, I have been toying around with the idea of cutting my hair. But, I'm scared.

my lipstick revelation.

recently I've been asked about what I wear on my lips.

I used to only wear lip gloss.
Religiously I collected dozens of tubes, wands, sticks and pots of it.
I had every color imaginable - pinks, reds, oranges, corals... you get the point.

It was shiny.
It was shimmery.
It was seductive.

It also never stayed on!

The moment I walked outside it would get stuck in my hair. Every. Time. Gluing itself to my lip like a bizarre misplaced mustache. I'd get it on the collars of my coats, my sleeves and the random scarf that dared blow in the wind. Forget kissing, that was not even an option, with gloss on. I'd leave sparkly lip marks on coffee mugs all across the city. And if one more person told me I had "just a little something on [my] teeth" I was going to scream.

Fed up with my lip gloss woes, I decided to leave it behind me.
I converted.
Now I only wear lipstick or a Nars lip crayon.

I am so grown up.

In the picture above I am wearing the Bobbi Brown lipstick "Pink" I bought in East Hampton at White's - a pharmacy that could rob you of your weekly nanny-ing wages in the amount of time it took the Hampton Jitney to arrive from Amagansett.
