Sunny pictures for this rainy day!

New York has given us the most gorgeous spring in my city memory. Day after day of clear blue skies, cool breezes and warm sunshine. This morning it is pouring. The skies are heavy with thick grey clouds and forget about the sunshine, it's nowhere to be seen. So here are a few of my iPhone photos to brighten up this gloomy day. Enjoy!

^^Walk, run or bike your way to nearest Central Park Meadow and enjoy this glorious weather before we are swallowed up by the inevitable humidity of an NYC summer^^

^^I could have sat under these trees all day^^

^^Bursts of pink in the flower beds and on my scarf and lips!^^

^^Taxis and tulips!^^

^^Happy colors meet you on every block!^^

^^My crocheted Toms are drawn to the flowerbeds^^

Jazz in the Himalayas

On Friday night Jake played at the Rubin Museum of Art with the Roy Assaf Trio in the museum's live music series: Jazz in the Himalayas. I had never been to the Rubin Museum before Friday night; neither had Jake. As I was running out the door, my phone lit up with a text from said husband that read "You're going to love this place!" He was right.

The gleaming cherrywood-lined performance space is acoustically and aesthetically glorious. The museum asks the musicians to visit the Rubin ahead of time, view the Himalayan art, become inspired and allow this inspiration to influence their musical performance.

I was left inspired. The Trio was fantastic. They are so connected while performing - they seem to finish each other's musical thoughts. A true collaboration... Now, I am not a jazz critic, but what strikes me most about Roy, Raviv and Jake, besides their innate talent as musicians, is their ability to embrace the complexity of their music and present it as one fluid comprehendible thought. I never felt lost. Each solo was clear, concise and creative. But don't take my word for it, listen here

Besides being a fantastic museum the museum is a self proclaimed serai, a stopping, shopping, eating place; a museum shop in motion. There is a restaurant, full bar and the food isn't the only thing drool worthy... the shop is incredible. I could have dropped a grand in ten minutes flat. But, instead I took pictures. For singles out there: this is an incredible first date location. For the lovers out there: this is an incredible 1000th date location. Hope you visit soon!

2 Dozen Roses for $10

Reason #546,019 why I love NYC... You can find the most spectacular roses, in practically every color under the sun and for a mere $10-$12. They peak out at you from every other street corner, stacked on wooden bleachers brightening up the facades of delis and supermarkets; just begging to be taken home. And, they seem to last forever. This batch lasted for nearly two weeks before they started to well, smell totally awful. Why does rose water stink so badly? Anyway, look forward to some DIY flower arranging posts in the very near future!

Celebratory Hot Donut Run w/ the Hubby

Sometimes it is 10:45pm on Wednesday night and you are getting ready to pick out your most comfortable slouchy clothes, brush your teeth and pass out.

Then there are sometimes when it is 10:45pm on Wednesday night and your husband looks at you and tells you he finished his last Jury of his Manhattan School of Music career and that he wants to celebrate with a hot home-made donut, fried chicken and a root beer. Like, right now.

SO sometimes at 10:45pm on Wednesday night you scrounge up clothes worthy of a date, swipe red lipstick across your lips and head out hand in hand with your practically giddy husband to Toast's new Chicken Bar on Amsterdam. At, well by now, it's 11:15pm.

And you know what? You are SO glad you did.
^^A hot, home-made, sugary donut for my baby^^
^^Champagne cheers!^^
^^I will be rockin' a rootbeer float next time!^^

Spring Feet!

Fridays are the start of my weekend. I spend the morning sleeping in until, like, 8am! Serious luxury friends. I drink too much coffee, stay in PJs a bit too long and most often than not I end up watching The West Wing on Netflix while tackling a pile (erm, mountain) of laundry. At last, over the past week, the weather has been behaving, and it actually feels like spring! So, last Friday I was inspired to freshen up my pedicure. Now every time I look at my toenails I am reminded, oh yea - it's May!!

^^Before: Rocking my wedding pedicure way longer than I thought was humanly possible^^

^^After: Embracing spring and sporting Essie's "First Timer"^^
